Well maybe not the developer itself, but certainely the company that owns them is looking to lose some weight! A recent article in the Seattle Times talks about the company's uncertainty in the wake of Vivendi trying to sell off it's games division in its entirety! Yet despite some flirtations with both Microsoft and Electonic Arts nobody seems that interested in buying such a vast expanse of developers; even though the overall price has supposedly dropped to around 800 million!
With rumors of Blizzards highly anticpated Starcraft: Ghost going XBOX exclusive one has to wonder if Microsoft is trying to grab just Blizzard from Vivendi's crown! You can read the whole article here for further details!

Author: tirras lea :: 2003-09-04 15:29:16 Yea, but Rareware employs around 400 people, and has over 10 development teams. Blizzard only has one dev team, Sierra has 4, Universal interactive has 3 and Black Label has 2. Rareware has a brandnew state of the art 10 mllion dollar development studio in Twycross, Microsoft would have had to build a new facility for each of the different studios. So there would be an extra 30 million.
Rareware's price is in line. 10 dev teams, and the rights to characters, and studio. 800 million is really high for 2 dev studios that constantly release sub par games, and 2 studios that have hardly any experience in the console market. And besides Starcraft, Diablo, Warcraft, there is not much else.
Author: Razeon :: 2003-09-04 03:21:00 800 mil is cheap. Microsoft paid half that for Rare and thats just one developer. VU games is a collection of developers.
Author: xboxizdope :: 2003-09-04 01:41:40 only $800 mill? What a deal!! I'll go get my checkbook...
Author: Razeon :: 2003-09-03 17:50:35 Apparently microsoft doesnt want all of vu games. They just want Blizzard, which is the best developer out of the bunch.
Author: jeff :: 2003-09-03 16:32:36 microsoft needs to buy vu games, if they do that they might aslo get there partners like the makers of half life, no one lives for ever and mythic, that well make xbox better
Author: Coola :: 2003-09-03 16:22:51 www.neuroindustries.tk o.o that.. or.. Microsoft doesn't believe they'd profit with Blizzard.
